Step 2 - Song Authors

Enter the song author's first and last name. Include any middle names with the First name, if that is the common way that author is referred to- in most cases, use just the first and last name. If you know that the author specifically contributed certain components to the song, you can indicate those under "Author contribution". If you are unsure, the defaults are set to the most common settings. In most cases, these need not be changed. At this point, your input screen should look similar to this:

You can use the drop down menu to select an author already in the list, if the author is a popular one. Because there are literally thousands of different authors, you can further search for an author by clicking on the "Find/Add New" link.

This will launch a pop up that allows you to find a specific author or add a new one not in the database. Start by typing in the name of the author, such as follows:

You will see a selection of authors appear in the results box. The results will continue to narrow as you type more of the persons name. If you find the author you wanted, simply select their name from the list and it will be placed in the dropdown list, as follows.

Then select "Save Author" button and it will be added to this song.

To add an author, after you launch the popup using the "Find/Add New" link, enter the complete name of the author (first and last name). If the author is already in the system, you can simply select their name and add them to the song author list. If the author is not in the system, select the blue link in the popup that says "Click here to Add/Select author: <author name>". This will properly add that new author you typed into the system. Again , the popup will disappear and the author will be placed in the drop down. Be sure not to forget to select "Save Author" button and it will be added to this song.

You can add as many authors as is necessary in this manner.
